There are four (4) types or categories of membership within the National Association
of Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club:

Full Member: To become a Full Member in a chapter of the NABSMC the individual must
be approved by the chapter's entire Board of Trustees. In addition, the individual must
meet the following requirements: (a) Must be legally licensed to operate motorcycles.
(b) Must own an insured road worthy motorcycle of at least 750 CCs. (c) Must have
fulfilled all of the chapters probationary requirements.

Associate Member: Associate membership is available to all "significant others", to
include wives, husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends, relatives, or just friends of the
chapter who for whatever reason are not eligible for "Full Membership" status but
want to play a role in the chapter mission. Associate membership should be welcomed
and personnel in this category should be encouraged to train for their motorcycle
license and to eventually become full members.

Honorary Member: Honorary membership shall be available to any person who in the
opinion of the chapter's Board of Trustees or Executive Board and on the advise of the
general membership, has substantially contributed to the promotion of the NABSMC,
the sport of motorcycling, motorcycle safety and enjoyment, and who has been
proposed for such honorary membership by at least 5 members of the chapter in good
standing. It is recommended that honorary membership be limited to no more than
one (1) honoree per every ten (10) Full Members.

It should also be noted that the word "Probie" is often used when discussing
categories of membership. "Probie" refers to the individual who has applied for Full
Membership but is currently going through his/her probationary period. This
probationary period varies from chapter to chapter but typically runs anywhere from 4
to 6 months. Individuals are granted Full Membership status only after successfully
completing their probationary period.
